Bronx Health Link, Inc. (BHL) was founded in 1998 as a collaborative effort of the Bronx Borough President’s Office, Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, Our Lady of Mercy Center, and St. Barnabas Hospital. BHL was established to engage in research and advocacy to develop, spur action on, and periodically update a consumer-driven community health plan for the borough. The first project was a community health needs assessment developed through a survey and a series of focus groups, interviews, and community forums. Since then BHL has engaged thousands of Bronx residents, healthcare providers, schools, researchers, community-based organizations, government agencies, and policy makers in pursuing better health outcomes for the borough. Today, BHL is an evolving and vibrant education, research, and advocacy organization.
