Family Medicine Residency Program

MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center is a 192 bed full-service acute care facility with approximately 65,000 emergency room visits and approximately 19,000 admissions each year. Among our other specialty services and facilities are a 24-hour emergency department and critical care unit, outpatient radiology, a surgical center, a sleep disorders lab, inpatient and outpatient behavioral health programs, an asthma and allergy center, rehabilitative medicine, and cancer treatment services. MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center is a medical center that not only treats illnesses and injuries, but also promotes wellness and community health as well. We are well known for extensive clinical outreach services, support groups, and health education programming. We also provide wellness services, including cardiac risk reduction, diabetes self-management, and weight management. In addition, Southern Maryland Health System has built community care centers, clinics, and physician offices in the neighborhoods and communities that need them in an effort to ensure that everyone in Southern Maryland has access to excellent healthcare.
